|School||Cardinal Hume Catholic School|
|Current Position||Assistant Headteacher|
|Designation||Specialist Leader of Education|
|Designated Specialism||English Departmental Support|
|Background||I began my career in 2002 as a newly-qualified teacher at St. Edmund Campion RC School before our move to our new establishment, Cardinal Hume, in 2007. The school has been on quite a unique journey during that time and I feel privileged to have been part of the challenges and rewards it has provided.
As former Head of English, my deployment in other schools so far has been focused on supporting Heads of Department in the areas of curriculum development, departmental systems and pupil tracking and intervention. In my current position as Assistant Headteacher, my areas of responsibility include tracking pupil attainment and achievement across subjects, and whole-school departmental and curriculum developments.
The broad nature of my role means that I have to develop my expertise based on the specific needs of the school, so I have also led developments on: improving A/A*, E-Bacc and 5+ A*-C including Mathematics and English; cross-curricular learning; improving the quality of revision; preparing for linear assessment; developing the teaching of literacy; preparing for changes to GCSE specifications; academic mentoring programmes and targeting disadvantaged pupils.
