||I have taught English at Cardinal Hume Catholic School and I am currently Head of English. Having been in this position for the last five years, I have led a department facing the challenges of curriculum reform and changes to performance measures. During this time we have had great success, consistently achieving 90%+ at grade A*-C and 9-4 in English. In 2015 I took on a yearlong role of overseeing the English department at St.Robert’s, Washington, whilst continuing in my role as Head of English at Cardinal Hume. I was able to help the St.Robert’s English department achieve 93% A*C in 2016 and strong links have since been formed between the two schools. Over the last three years, I have participated in supporting English departments from schools in the West Midlands who were classified as requiring improvement by Ofsted. I have presented in Telford, West Bromwich and Walsall to senior leaders and local authorities, using my own experiences to provide practical advice and strategies in areas such as assessment, building curriculums and effective marking.
